Okay, Memorial Day weekend is past us and we’re officially into summer! But after day 1 of the kids saying “we’re bored” you’re already going crazy! We get it, you want to keep the kids busy this summer, but you also don’t want to break the pocketbook. We’ve done the research for you! We’ve put together a list of free things to do this summer!
There are MANY festivals this summer. There’s Capitol Hill People’s Fair, June 2-3 in Larimer Square. Immediately following the Capitol Hill People’s fair is the Denver Chalk Art Festival. This event is comprised of amateurs, professionals, and students who turn the sidewalks of Larimer Square into art. Also in June is the Cherry Blossom Festival where the Japanese culture and heritage is showcased. This festival is June 23-24th and located off of 20th and Lawrence streets.

Love live music? You can enjoy live music this summer for free! Every Sunday in June and July and the first Sunday in August City Park Jazz is playing. Elway’s in Cherry Creek is hosting a Taste & Tunes Summer Music Series every Wednesday evening starting June 13 through August 15th (not including July 4th). Looking to check out some museums this summer? Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Clyfford Still Museum, Denver Art Museum, Children’s Museum, and Denver Firefighters Museum all have free days. There all different dates and times, however. So check out this link to get full details and enjoy these amazing places for FREE this summer! You can find lots of other ‘cheap fun’ around Denver, as well. Dinosaur Ridge is in Morrison and is fun for those dinosaur lovers! Garden of the Gods is in Colorado Springs and one of Colorado’s amazing landmarks. There are even free tours available; some of these tours include adult beverages, which can be a nice perk!
